Programs

Programs include health screenings held every third Saturday at the University City Library, Teen Health Camps conducted in collaboration with area organizations that serve disadvantaged youth and educational and training opportunities for medical and nursing students. Click on any of the links on the left.  The Bridging the Gap project seeks to reduce the negative impact of language barriers on the health of 300 immigrants and refugees per year by providing foreign-language medical interpreting training to HPES medical staff and bi-lingual volunteers who assist clients in the provision of medical and interpreter serviceds.  Foreign-born bi-lingual volunteers will: 1) receive medical interpreting certification, 2) provide services at HPES for more than 300 immigrants and 3) create the capacity earn an income as a medical interpreter.
